Let it Pour

Back in my first year of University I came across this Vancouver artist Ben Reeves, and fell in love! I did a review of his work for my critical thinking in the visual arts class, and have continued to follow his works. Photographs of his work don't do it justice. His use of thick globs of white oil paint create a beautiful three dimensional texture and depth, that capture the environmental essences of a true Vancouver.
Check out his work at Equinox Gallery

Artful Perfume

Nina Ricci's recent perfume campaign collaborated with Spanish visual artist and designer Ana Montiel. Her images are feminine, colourful and absolutely beautiful.

A London-based artist, Ana finds inspiration in most interesting places. Whether it be Quantum physics, yoga, or Astrology she can see the potential to create beautiful art.

I know what my next art purchase will be....

A little Keith Haring love...

Kat was saying this weekend I need to blog more about art, since I like love it so much (I am an art and culture major teehee). And since last week I was heart broken when I thought I lost my limited edition Keith Haring water bottle... but to my surprise I found it, I thought it would being fitting to share a little Keith Haring love! He's one of my favourite artists from the 80's! As a public (controversial) artist who liked to displays his images on the walls of the New York subway, his images are simple but full of colour, beat, and rhythm. After being diagnosed with AIDS in the late 80's, he became a huge advocate for AIDS awareness and funding through his Keith Haring Foundation. He passed away in 1990 at 31.

I have the water bottle on the left.

Enjoy your monday!

Paint the sky, make it yours

Post inspo: Anita

We were out for drinks with a friend recently and he asked her who her favourite painters are - not sure why it never occurred to me to ask her seeing as art is one of her {many} passions; sometimes you can even find her studying at art galleries {yes, you read that right}.

So naturally I came across a picture of paint splattered trousers and inspiration smacked me in the face. Fashion + Art = Anita.

As someone you may call horrible at art artistically challenged I can't wait for Nita to show me more of her world. Maybe you'll even find me studying at an art gallery {but please don't hold your breath}...

Fall in Love with David Downton

I recently got big time fashion illustrator David Downton's latest book Masters of Fashion Illustration, and have fallen in love with fashion illustration. As an art and culture student I absolutely love all kinds of art, and fashion but when the two are combined into something amazing this kind of art is quickly becoming one of my favourites! The loose lines, the use of colours, and attitude that oozes out of the illustration only cements the idea of fashion as fantasy. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

So beautiful!
