The Mount Pleasant area in Vancouver is quickly becoming one of my favourite places to hang out. Kat and I did some exploring around West 7th and Main St. and couldn't get over the raw character this neighbourhood has offer. The carefree, earthy tone, "easy going" people make this area a relaxing and unique niche of Vancouver. This neighbourhood is so over looked but a definite hang out if you don't already.

If you're looking for a new places to do lunch check out the The Whip @ Main Street and East 6th, and my personal favourite {yes they know by name} The Argo Cafe @ Ontario Street just a few blocks from Main Street.

Kat and I feel in love with this building... we're going to live here {in theory}. The rock and brick combo is beautiful.

(This Shit) Cray Kitchen + Bar

A couple of weeks ago I was invited by a very good friend of mine to a tasting at a new restaurant opening up in Vancouver. With free food at stake, I happily obliged without any hesitation. Little did I know I was in for a big treat.
We warmed up our tummies with a chicken and sausage gumbo followed by seasoned cajun fries as our appetizers. The next dish was a basket of delicious cod nuggets which were the perfect amount of crispy on the outside and tenderness and juicy on the inside. My mouth is salivating all over again...

Then came the feast: 2 pounds of crawfish, 2 pounds of shrimp,  and 1 pound of clam accompanied with seasoned potatoes and corn. I've never had crawfish before and that in itself was a fun experience. Although there were endless amounts of shellfish covering the surface of our table, the stand out for me was the seasoned corn on the cob. I just could not get enough!!! ...and yes, I did ask for seconds.

Located on one of Vancouver's busiest streets, Cray Kitchen + Bar is the perfect location to catch the game on any one of their plasma screen TVs, catch up with friendss, or grab a drink; all while chowing down on some good ol' Louisiana style home cooking (and probably laughing at each other while doing it...it's a messy job). The decor which includes starfish and shells strewn across a bed of netting along the walls, some clever signage, brick, and vaulted ceilings framed with old wood gives it a warm beachy feel.
But be warned when choosing your spices for the XXX hot sauce is not one to fool around with but if you're up for a spicy challenge, dig in!
Doors opened on June 20th so if you're looking for a fun, new, modern and delicious place to eat, Cray Kitchen + Bar is definitely one to give a shot! So check it out and...

This played at a club I went to the other night in Toronto
and I almost lost all control of my senses as a
shriek of excitement escaped my lungs and my body went into a
full fledged flailing spasm of what I think was some for of dancing.

Weekend Love

Well, an early Weekend Love. Forgive me, my weekend starts today.
I'm heading to Sin City aka LAS VEGAS for the first time ever and I CANNOT WAIT!
Preparing myself for hot hot heat, shopping, pool parties, and no sleep {it is the city that never sleeps... right?}!

Wish me luck!

Have an absolutely incredible weekend.

Primary Colours

Ch-ch-cherry....

Whenever I get a new hair cut it makes me step back and think about my personal style, and how I wear my clothes. Getting ready in the morning is a production.

I try on everything I own {almost everything} and stand in front of the mirror asking the same questions over and over.... do my clothes fit my hair cut? Too edgy? Not edgy enough? Do I look like a twelve year old?.. the list goes on.

At first I loved my new bangs, my cousin Emma did an amazing job, but me and my lack of hairdressing skill could not replicate her styling and quickly regretted my blunt bangs. But after a day or so I'm starting to dig them... my mom says they make me look younger.... hmmmmm....is that good or bad I wonder? Oh well, I'll rock them for now!

EAT! (your heart out) VANCOUVER

This past weekend we attended the tenth annual EAT!Vancouver festival at B.C. Place Stadium and aside from adding a LOT couple of inches to our waist span, we had the opportunity to learn a lot about some of the local foods produced close to home while treating our taste buds to a party a long the way!
If learning was this delicious, maybe I wouldn't procrastinate so much. Professors, take note.

Once I got my media pass, there was NOTHING holding me back
from all the calories I was about to ingest.

Watching the Western Canadian Regional Barista Championships.
Yea, I didn't know this existed either...

An example of some of the products made and offered here in B.C.
The basil pesto vinaigrette was to die for!

1 of the MANY salmon exhibits offered at the festival. What did you you expect?
IT'S VANCOUVER!
P.S. If you've never had maple syrup marinated candy salmon, you might as well be dead.

Five stages were set up around the stadium for tastings and seminars. Depending on your interests, you could be sampling from dozens of different cheeses or learning about international cooking from world renowned chefs; or even listening to Vancouver's own Iron Chef Rob Feenie give a seminar at the Foot Network Celebrity stage.

Which seminar did we attend?
The wine tasting seminar of course...followed by the beer & food pairing seminar right after...
Nothing like a little afternoon buzz to get the day rolling in the right direction. #Guilty

See you next year!
