Men's Monday

Dance + Fashion + Music

I came across this somewhat old Levi's commercial the other day and I absolutely fell in love with the concept. Merging ballet with stunning music to promote fashion is like a symphony of my favourite things.

Movement in its most  purest form, a vivid backdrop, and a graceful yet dynamic melody.

Nothing over the top.
I would be more inclined to watch commercials if they were all like this.

Literally just came across this and thought I would share:

Dance Like No One is Watching.

Something upbeat for a change.
LOVE this remix...

The 'Quay' to a great Summer...

With July officially over, we are (unfortunately) 1/2 way through the Summer which means we only have a month left to fit in all our favourite Summer activities and destinations before September hits.
One location that must NOT be overlooked is the Westminister Quay.

Markets with the freshest produce, wonderful boutiques loaded with great gift ideas, and of course endless cafes and restaurants; there's just so much to see and do!

Take a gander through Tiny Finery's gallery of trinkets and accessories, sip on 1 of over 150 teas from The Great Wall Tea Co. (I recommended anything with mango in it...of course), enjoy a delicious Crispy Chicken from Wally's Burger, and take in that beautiful view by the water.
You're welcome.

Over 150 tins, each containing a different type of tea, makes up the spectacular backdrop at this little but large teashop! #Amazing

Oh, and don't forget the dog!

It's all I have."

Taking On The World In Style

It was the first official training of the season when our coach at the time announced that trampoline would make its debut in four years at the 2000 Olympics. I remember feeling so inspired, and hoping maybe one day I would get to represent my country at the Games... well I haven't quite got there yet, but I am so proud to know that I am part of a nation wide community that makes up one the strongest countries in trampoline gymnastics in the world.

Yes, trampoline and fashion do not really go "hand in hand," but in my view they do. Women in athletics are the most inspiring people both in sport and everyday life. Karen Cockburn and Rosie MacLennan are two of many Canadian women who are healthy, fit, and stylish.  They may spend 90% of their day in runners, Lululemons and sweaty ponytails, but underneath the sweat and spandex is two women with chic style! With their chiseled arms, washboard abs, and rock solid legs {this is very true, I once touched Karen's quad, it was just muscle and skin), these ladies could make a paper bag look good! Karen and Rosie are Canada's top trampoline athletes, and will be taking on the world this Saturday in the best outfit I can think of... red, white and a whole of spandex!

Rosie rocking out on her banner! Can you say, "rockstar!"

Jason Burnett will compete first for Canada tomorrow at 6AM Pacific Time.

Good luck to Jason, Karen, and Rosie the country, and trampoline community will be cheering loud and proud for you! Go get'em!

Teacups, Cupcakes, and a whole lot of Love.

Look out Queen!
The Queen holds her famous garden party every year, but this she's got competition! For years I've wanted to have a tea party in my backyard, complete with little finger cucumber sandwiches, bite size cupcakes, and of course macarons, so this summer I said, "I'm doing it!" I found all the mish-mash china, and teacups I could find, a white table cloth, pastry tiers, tones of fresh flowers and we had a party!  Everyone looked stunning, dressed in bright colours, floral print, and lace.  I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday then with friends and family.

Soirette Macarons.... perfect!.... A definite must try!! Their Creamy Earl Grey tea was the favourite tea of the afternoon.

A huge thank you to Lisa at Bella Rose for the beautiful and delicious cupcakes!

A huge thanks to Bianca and my sissy for all their help! And Kat for all her amazing photos! You girls mean the world to me!

Men's Monday

Tank tops, the garment most symbolic of Summer, has evolved a more modern and street friendly look while keeping its sporty flare. With the London Olympics underway, GQ released a wonderful spread of snapshots taken by Sebastian Kim which features 6 of America's top gymnasts who could be appearing in the 2012 games; showing just how tank tops have made a fashion forward leap for the better.

Whether you're rocking out in stripes, bold colors or tribal print, get those 'guns' out, flex those muscles, and most importantly, make sure you know which way the beach is ;)

One of my favourite songs and in my opinion,
this is thebest cover of this song out there.
Yes, even better than ADELE's (it's a close one).

Weekend Love

so. much. happy.

Hi everyone! TGI{finally}Friday! I don't know about you but for me this entire month of July has flown by. Not to mention there has yet to be a break in my schedule of bouncing around from my two jobs; however, as I have been reminding myself lately to keep my eyes on the prize, I have some new and exciting things to look forward to!

First things first, I have an incredibly busy weekend planned full of parties! Needless to say I am thrilled that I have almost all of next week off and will be heading to Penticton with Tyler for a long weekend getaway {hallelujah!}

Now, for the big news...
Starting next week I am beginning an editorial internship at Framework Magazine! {think less Devil Wears Prada and more Lauren Conrad from The Hills}. Framework Magazine is an incredible online publication full of everything stylish including fashion, home d├ęcor, entertaining, art, culture, and travel.  The monthly online magazine features how-to's, interviews, editorial spreads, and tips from industry experts such as Olivia Lovenmark of StyleStruck

I think anyone who knows me will agree when I say I can identify with the Framework Girl.  I was an avid reader of the magazine even before the internship and fell in love with it instantly when I first read the description of the Framework Girl:

{As seen in the June issue}
The Framework Girl...
...dreams big and with abandon
...explores her city in search of the perfect patio
...dons a sundress at every chance
...enjoys reading in the sunshine
...plans a weekend picnic with her best girls
...looks to the details to create her bigger picture

UMMMM yes. Sounds about right.

I am beyond thrilled to have founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine Bria Lear take me under her wing and teach me; not only am I excited to learn more about digital publishing, fashion, and social media, I am absolutely dying to be surrounded by inspiring individuals, to get to speak and learn from them will be such a treat!

Check out the amazing magazine I will soon be a part of: Framework Magazine

Wednesday I'm Wearing...

Something New and Something Old

I love pairing my grandmother's, and nonna's {italian for grandmother} vintage jewelry with my everyday apparel. The slightly tarnished colour of  vintage gold goes great with every outfit!

My grandmother passed down this gold {kinda tacky}, bobble choker that I use to think was so ugly and would never be caught wearing, but I love it in my jewelry box because it was my grandmother's. As my style and taste changes, I now absolutely love it! I pair it with two love gold chains she gave me as well, and over my mauve, soft coloured blouse it's perfect.

Blaq Coffee.

West 4th Ave in Kits Beach has the best cafes and restaurants than anywhere else in Vancouver (in my opinion). A few months ago a new little coffee shop and bistro opened on the corner of Bayswater and West 4th; Blaq Sheep, and it's quickly become a regular "go to" spot for Evan and I! Aside from barista that constantly makes fun of my Nikon camera that's usually slug over my shoulder, they make fantastic ice London fogs, and vanilla lattes. They have a whole selection of gluten free pastries, salads and paninis. A definite must try if your in the neighborhood!

NOH8 Follow-Up

So if you've been following Men's Monday from the beginning, you'll know that I volunteered at the NOH8 photo shoot when it came into Vancouver a couple of weeks ago. Well guess what! I finally got my photo back and I am so excited to share it accompanied with some of what went down at the event. (It's about time right?!)

My wonderful friends Kyle and Caroline volunteered with me and the event was catered with delicious food courtesy of the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel. It felt really great to support such an amazing cause and with great friends, good food, eager volunteers and great energy from those in attendance, the hours just flew by.

From The Real Housewives of Vancouver, both Reiko and Mary (who are sweethearts in real life) as well as their families attended and supported the event followed close behind by media and fans.

I got the opportunity to get my photo taken by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (can cross this off my bucket list) at the end of the night and I was so impressed with his infectious energy and upbeat personality even after hours and hours of being on his feet taking photos. He made sure everyone got their opportunity and was so easy to work with. I can honestly say I've never felt so comfortable in front of a camera with him directing me from behind the lens.

I hope the NOH8 team comes back  to Vancouver in the future & you can count on me volunteering again for this inspiring cause. Now, without further ado...

Here's my photo!
What do you think? Nailed it? :)

Weekend Love

It has been an incredibly busy but rewarding week. I have big, big amazing news to share with you about my future and I am so excited {and not gonna lie...} a little scared to start this new endeavour. But as I am learning from the closest and most important people in my life it is good to be scared. Its good to have a little fear going into something because that means you care.
In any case I can't wait to work with some amazing and inspiring people and be buried under piles of work burning the midnight oil for something I know I will truly enjoy and fully enjoy learning about. I'll be sharing more soon, no hints! {good to keep you on your toes} and hopefully you'll be able to see what I'll be working on!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Love

Scatter sunshine.

The sun has been shining for days and the skies have never been so blue. I don't know about you guys but the weather seems to be directly correlated to my mood because I have been incredibly happy lately {there may be a couple other contributors too...}
Sometimes I get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and trying to figure everything out and have a plan and need to be reminded the simple things that make me happy.

Fill your life with love, scatter sunshine, forget self, think of others.
Do as you would be done by.

Happy weekend.
