Teacups, Cupcakes, and a whole lot of Love.

Look out Queen!
The Queen holds her famous garden party every year, but this she's got competition! For years I've wanted to have a tea party in my backyard, complete with little finger cucumber sandwiches, bite size cupcakes, and of course macarons, so this summer I said, "I'm doing it!" I found all the mish-mash china, and teacups I could find, a white table cloth, pastry tiers, tones of fresh flowers and we had a party!  Everyone looked stunning, dressed in bright colours, floral print, and lace.  I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday then with friends and family.

Soirette Macarons.... perfect!.... A definite must try!! Their Creamy Earl Grey tea was the favourite tea of the afternoon.

A huge thank you to Lisa at Bella Rose for the beautiful and delicious cupcakes!

A huge thanks to Bianca and my sissy for all their help! And Kat for all her amazing photos! You girls mean the world to me!

Men's Monday

Tank tops, the garment most symbolic of Summer, has evolved a more modern and street friendly look while keeping its sporty flare. With the London Olympics underway, GQ released a wonderful spread of snapshots taken by Sebastian Kim which features 6 of America's top gymnasts who could be appearing in the 2012 games; showing just how tank tops have made a fashion forward leap for the better.

Whether you're rocking out in stripes, bold colors or tribal print, get those 'guns' out, flex those muscles, and most importantly, make sure you know which way the beach is ;)

One of my favourite songs and in my opinion,
this is thebest cover of this song out there.
Yes, even better than ADELE's (it's a close one).

Weekend Love

so. much. happy.

Hi everyone! TGI{finally}Friday! I don't know about you but for me this entire month of July has flown by. Not to mention there has yet to be a break in my schedule of bouncing around from my two jobs; however, as I have been reminding myself lately to keep my eyes on the prize, I have some new and exciting things to look forward to!

First things first, I have an incredibly busy weekend planned full of parties! Needless to say I am thrilled that I have almost all of next week off and will be heading to Penticton with Tyler for a long weekend getaway {hallelujah!}

Now, for the big news...
Starting next week I am beginning an editorial internship at Framework Magazine! {think less Devil Wears Prada and more Lauren Conrad from The Hills}. Framework Magazine is an incredible online publication full of everything stylish including fashion, home décor, entertaining, art, culture, and travel.  The monthly online magazine features how-to's, interviews, editorial spreads, and tips from industry experts such as Olivia Lovenmark of StyleStruck

I think anyone who knows me will agree when I say I can identify with the Framework Girl.  I was an avid reader of the magazine even before the internship and fell in love with it instantly when I first read the description of the Framework Girl:

{As seen in the June issue}
The Framework Girl...
...dreams big and with abandon
...explores her city in search of the perfect patio
...dons a sundress at every chance
...enjoys reading in the sunshine
...plans a weekend picnic with her best girls
...looks to the details to create her bigger picture

UMMMM yes. Sounds about right.

I am beyond thrilled to have founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine Bria Lear take me under her wing and teach me; not only am I excited to learn more about digital publishing, fashion, and social media, I am absolutely dying to be surrounded by inspiring individuals, to get to speak and learn from them will be such a treat!

Check out the amazing magazine I will soon be a part of: Framework Magazine

Have an absolutely fabulous weekend!

Wednesday I'm Wearing...

Something New and Something Old

I love pairing my grandmother's, and nonna's {italian for grandmother} vintage jewelry with my everyday apparel. The slightly tarnished colour of  vintage gold goes great with every outfit!

My grandmother passed down this gold {kinda tacky}, bobble choker that I use to think was so ugly and would never be caught wearing, but I love it in my jewelry box because it was my grandmother's. As my style and taste changes, I now absolutely love it! I pair it with two love gold chains she gave me as well, and over my mauve, soft coloured blouse it's perfect.

Blaq Coffee.

West 4th Ave in Kits Beach has the best cafes and restaurants than anywhere else in Vancouver (in my opinion). A few months ago a new little coffee shop and bistro opened on the corner of Bayswater and West 4th; Blaq Sheep, and it's quickly become a regular "go to" spot for Evan and I! Aside from barista that constantly makes fun of my Nikon camera that's usually slug over my shoulder, they make fantastic ice London fogs, and vanilla lattes. They have a whole selection of gluten free pastries, salads and paninis. A definite must try if your in the neighborhood!

Men's Monday

NOH8 Follow-Up

So if you've been following Men's Monday from the beginning, you'll know that I volunteered at the NOH8 photo shoot when it came into Vancouver a couple of weeks ago. Well guess what! I finally got my photo back and I am so excited to share it accompanied with some of what went down at the event. (It's about time right?!)

My wonderful friends Kyle and Caroline volunteered with me and the event was catered with delicious food courtesy of the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel. It felt really great to support such an amazing cause and with great friends, good food, eager volunteers and great energy from those in attendance, the hours just flew by.

From The Real Housewives of Vancouver, both Reiko and Mary (who are sweethearts in real life) as well as their families attended and supported the event followed close behind by media and fans.

I got the opportunity to get my photo taken by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (can cross this off my bucket list) at the end of the night and I was so impressed with his infectious energy and upbeat personality even after hours and hours of being on his feet taking photos. He made sure everyone got their opportunity and was so easy to work with. I can honestly say I've never felt so comfortable in front of a camera with him directing me from behind the lens.

I hope the NOH8 team comes back  to Vancouver in the future & you can count on me volunteering again for this inspiring cause. Now, without further ado...

Here's my photo!

What do you think? Nailed it? :)

Weekend Love

It has been an incredibly busy but rewarding week. I have big, big amazing news to share with you about my future and I am so excited {and not gonna lie...} a little scared to start this new endeavour. But as I am learning from the closest and most important people in my life it is good to be scared. Its good to have a little fear going into something because that means you care.
In any case I can't wait to work with some amazing and inspiring people and be buried under piles of work burning the midnight oil for something I know I will truly enjoy and fully enjoy learning about. I'll be sharing more soon, no hints! {good to keep you on your toes} and hopefully you'll be able to see what I'll be working on!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Love

Scatter sunshine.

The sun has been shining for days and the skies have never been so blue. I don't know about you guys but the weather seems to be directly correlated to my mood because I have been incredibly happy lately {there may be a couple other contributors too...}
Sometimes I get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and trying to figure everything out and have a plan and need to be reminded the simple things that make me happy.

Fill your life with love, scatter sunshine, forget self, think of others.
Do as you would be done by.

Happy weekend.

Tina Tam

Recently, Kat and I had the wonderful opportunity to hang out with Tina Tam, owner and designer of Carnal Design, to speak with her about her new up and coming line Tina Tam.

Hidden within the Mount Pleasant area of Vancouver amidst the beautiful rustic brick buildings and quirky cafes and restaurants we found Tam answering the door to her small studio behind Adhesif Clothing Boutique (where you can find Tam originals).
Dressed in black leggings, a red smock dress, and black framed glasses, Tina Tam's effortless boho-indie style is apparent in not only her own personal style, but also present in her new Tina Tam line.

A detail from Tina's "Tina Tam" line... loving the thick lace trim

After graduating from The Art Institute of Vancouver Tam says she finds herself constantly growing and maturing as a serious designer; her growth is evident in the development of her clothing from the black fetish leather, and studs of Carnal Design to a look combining both masculine and feminine elements with the clean, free flowing lines of her Tina Tam line. Her dresses from the Tina Tam line have a light, soft look that fit every body shape. Her use of patterns, how she mixes with solids, and her use of bold piping make the pieces fun and wearable for everyday (perfect summer dresses!)

Carnal line

Tam has found her voice as a designer, and definitely a Vancouver designer to keep your eye on. Her commitment to creating and designing is inspiring; working in a creative industry that is constantly changing Tina has learned quickly that she must continue to change and evolve as well.
Her best piece of advice (and we think this goes for many things!):
"Taking your time, planning it out, and doing it when you are ready is really important"
We really cannot wait to see more from Tam as she continues making splashes on the Vancouver fashion scene.

The Denim Jacket

The hunt is finally over!
I've finally found myself a denim jacket that fits my small frame thanks to Topman located at The Bay on Granville str. As one of the few stores that carries men's XS and even XXS on occasions, it quickly became love at first buy.

We all know what it's like to go to store after store after store and find so many wonderful pieces but to our dismay, they don't carry our size. Whether you feel like Regina George on Kaltine bars or Kate Moss on a diet, it's always the most amazing feeling to find that one store that finally carries your perfect fit....
And no, I am NOT talking about Sears.

So thank you Topman, for thinking of us little guys.
