Weekend Love

What I love for the weekend;

FRIDAY
Anita, Jer, Bianca and I will be at the Polaroid Party {previously blogged here} There's going to be a ton of fun things going on {to mention a few; a photo booth, life-size polaroid pictures, an "awesome" wall, great music, great people, for a great cause} Try to be there, even if you can just stop by and say hi!
SATURDAY
I'll be attending the Student Leadership Conference out at UBC this weekend! I'm super excited about hearing some pretty inspiring people speak.

The Student Leadership Conference did a cool campaign and asked UBC students what makes UBC awesome:

The inspiration for this campaign is closing keynote speaker, author of "The Book of Awesome" Neil Pasricha! Some of the other featured presenters include Rachel Lewis {Chief Operating Officer of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC}, Shobha Sharma {Director of Free the Children}, Mark Brand {owner of Boneta, and Save on Meats [check them out in my Dine Out blog here!]}, and Sam Sullivan {former Vancouver mayor}.

                                     Yes we have a library Harry Potter style!

In addition to the huge line-up of speakers there are workshops all throughout the day focusing on leadership, technology, development, and global citizenship.

Check out more of awesome UBC campaign here! Read about the SLC here.

SUNDAY
ZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzz.
Kidding! - I'll be trying to dig myself out from underneath the massive pile of studying and reading I have to do, as well as try and have some sort of a social life.

Super excited for all of it :)
Have a great weekend!!!

Wednesday I'm Wearing.

I came across this blue suede jacket (with matching blue suede dress not in the picture) in my mom closet from around 1993, and I'm in love! I can't get enough of it. It's got this military look to it with big shoulder pads, and big gold buttons. It's hard to find pieces like this today. With the sun shining it was a perfect day to wear it out.
 I had class downtown at the Simon Fraser University (Woodwards campus) this morning... and coming out of school and see the sun hitting the north shore mountains made me two things...
                                                    1. Reminded me why I put up with the rain, because on days like today I am reminded why I love living in this beautiful city.
                                                    2. Made me mad... because I forgot my camera at home.

On days like today it's best to get out and soak up as much vitamin D as possible, and enjoy the crisp cool weather, because we all know it won't be around for long.....

My mom, she's so stylin' even when she's just going grocery shopping. <3

Don't forget to get your tickets for this Friday's Polaroid Party at Canvas in Gastown!! It's going to be a picture perfect night (literally)!!

Happy Day!

The Polaroid Party

On Friday, January 13th Anita, Bianca, Jer and I will be volunteering at the first big party of the new year!

Oh you haven't heard? {have you been living under a rock..?}

It's the POLAROID PARTY being thrown by Team Awesome {yes, they are exactly what you think... awesome!} and partnering with imagine1day, the Dalit Freedom Network of Canada, Exe Productions, and Social City Networking of course!

All the proceeds from this party will be put towards sending children in Ethiopia and India to school via the imagine1day and Dalit Freedom Network organizations.

What is this awesome party all about??

Take 20 amazing photographers, give them polaroid cameras -
et voilĂ !
You get hundreds of fantastic polaroid pictures.

Next, sell the photographs for charity at $10 a polaroid.

Then take 100% of the proceeds from both the photos and party ticket sales {at only $10 a pop for entry and a drink!} and put it towards charity.

Throw in a fun venue = CANVAS LOUNGE

Mix in beats from a couple of Vancouver's best DJs
{a close friend of mine}
DJ YURIE and
The Freshest, DJ MARVEL

And you get...

An awesome party, for an awesome cause = an awesome way to start off 2012.
