Wednesday I'm Wearing...

Something New and Something Old

I love pairing my grandmother's, and nonna's {italian for grandmother} vintage jewelry with my everyday apparel. The slightly tarnished colour of  vintage gold goes great with every outfit!

My grandmother passed down this gold {kinda tacky}, bobble choker that I use to think was so ugly and would never be caught wearing, but I love it in my jewelry box because it was my grandmother's. As my style and taste changes, I now absolutely love it! I pair it with two love gold chains she gave me as well, and over my mauve, soft coloured blouse it's perfect.

Wednesday I'm Wearing....

"Let's go sit on the steps of the MET, I mean VAG."

The last few weeks leading up to the Canadian National Trampoline Championships I've been horrible at keeping up with my regular blog posting... {thank goodness for Kat and Jer!} But... now that Nationals are over and I have {a little} bit of down time before training kicks up again, I'm back!

Kat and I caught up for lunch at Cafe Medina for a milk chocolate lavender mocha, and a salted caramel Belgium waffle {ok... maybe not lunch but a snack}, but it's a MUST TRY! Cafe Medina is awesome! After, we went and satisfied our "inner New York" love for the MET, and relaxed on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery with a Jugo Juice. These steps are quickly becoming our favourite hang out.

Photo Credit to Kat.. you're the best!

"Give me a break.."
I find that in the crazy, stressful chaos of writing exams it best to take coffee/lunch breaks with a bestie. In my case, Kat and I had a meeting at Vancouver Fashion Week to discuss September's show, and then strolled out with the intention of studying at our favourite study spot (Commune Cafe) ..... but that didn't happen obviously (because we can't stop talking).
Oh well, we did have the fantastic pesto, mushroom, goat cheese flatbread which is to die for. If you haven't checked out Commune Cafe, you should get on that.

Wednesday I'm Wearing.

Gastown Strut: Kat and I took full advantage of this gorgeous day we had today, and hung out around Gastown our favourite part of the city. After school was over for me at the SFU Woodwards campus, Kat met me for a fabulous lunch at Meat and Bread {highly highly recommend}, and then we stopped for a "coffee recharge" at Bambo Cafe.  I never get tired of the Gastown area, it's full of super cool shops, boutiques, architecture and best of all... people. There's a mix of contemporary arts students from SFU, with business people, and edgy hipsters. Makes me love Vancouver even more.

I love this alley.. all the graffiti and murals make it so colourful and inspiring.

Huge photo cred to Kat {she's amazing}!!

Wednesday I'm Wearing.

This past weekend the girls and I attended an art opening at Interurban Gallery (on the corner of E. Hastings and Carrall St,) for Vancouver artist Karen Ward. Her work is very touching, and moving, you can feel the emotion in each piece.

If you've never been to the Interurban Gallery it's a beautiful space. White walls with exposed brick and super high ceilings; I especially love the big heavy (once bank?) vault door that has been left behind. Check it out!

We took a stroll up Burnaby Mountain the other day, it was so beautiful. There was a little misty fog, and some of the buds were starting to open up. This cool, yet warm(ish) weather is fantastic too, it's feeling more and more like SPRING! YAY!

Wednesday I'm Wearing.

Colour blocking, Starbucks, and best of all... Sunshine!

At first I had mixed feels about these pants, I wasn't sure if I liked how they looked on me, or if I liked the feeling of them... but I've come to realize they're the most comfy pants EVER! I'm all about wearing clothes that fit my style, and function for everyday use. And I love that they go with everything, and the little zipper detail is a perfect touch!

Gotta have a little lace, and hint of purple in my shoes.
I love the gold detail from my jacket with the shininess of the leather of my pants.

Wednesday I'm Wearing.

Brr.. it's cold outside. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like this weather. I'll take it over the rain any day! Yes, our city's transit, and drivers don't handle the conditions very well, and waiting for the skytrain this morning was very painful, and not very enjoyable. BUT I love how it seems so much quieter, and still. Secretly I hope we get a huge dump of snow... like Montreal style! {fingers crossed}

This weather makes me want to wear blue, and grey colours... shocker!

Wednesday I'm Wearing.

I came across this blue suede jacket (with matching blue suede dress not in the picture) in my mom closet from around 1993, and I'm in love! I can't get enough of it. It's got this military look to it with big shoulder pads, and big gold buttons. It's hard to find pieces like this today. With the sun shining it was a perfect day to wear it out.
I had class downtown at the Simon Fraser University (Woodwards campus) this morning... and coming out of school and see the sun hitting the north shore mountains made me two things...
                                                    1. Reminded me why I put up with the rain, because on days like today I am reminded why I love living in this beautiful city.
                                                    2. Made me mad... because I forgot my camera at home.

On days like today it's best to get out and soak up as much vitamin D as possible, and enjoy the crisp cool weather, because we all know it won't be around for long.....

My mom, she's so stylin' even when she's just going grocery shopping. <3

Don't forget to get your tickets for this Friday's Polaroid Party at Canvas in Gastown!! It's going to be a picture perfect night (literally)!!

Happy Day!
